Another busy, busy month has flown by, and as always, there’s been plenty going on here at Hall Farm. I can only imagine you watching over us, wondering how we manage to squeeze so much into such a short space of time!
We started the month by finishing our Wimbledon Special. Strawberries, cream, sandwiches and scones — it went down a treat and was enjoyed all round.
This month also brought something we’re incredibly proud of — we became official supporters of The Farming Community Network (FCN). Farming has always been such a huge part of our lives, and supporting the people within our farming community is something we feel very passionately about. If we can help make even the smallest difference, get people talking and remind someone that they’re never alone, then it’s all worthwhile.
And then… harvest arrived! We started combining and, unbelievably, completed combining all within the very same month! It has been one of the earliest and hottest harvests we’ve seen for many, many years. Long days, dusty evenings, machinery everywhere and plenty of running around — you know exactly what harvest time is like around here!
Of course, Les had her annual tractor outing too! She was back behind the wheel, helping in the fields and carting corn. It wouldn’t be harvest without her yearly appearance and all she does behind the scenes! Les you very, very muchly appreciated!
The OSR certainly didn’t hang around either. It was combined, brought back to the farm and stored, before being loaded up and heading out of the store again just a couple of weeks after coming off the fields. From field to store and back out again in what felt like the blink of an eye!
We also took part in #Farm24, a brilliant 24 hours where farmers across the country come together to show everyone what farming is really about. Not just the tractors and combines, but all the work behind the scenes that people don’t always get to see — the early starts, late finishes, paperwork, preparation, teamwork and everything in between.
And because apparently, we hadn’t been busy enough already, we finished the month with 45 afternoon teas for our lovely Falls Prevention Group!
And when we say a bus load arrived… we mean literally a bus load! They all arrived ready to enjoy their afternoon teas, and it was such a lovely way to round off another hectic month.
So, there we are, Maysie. Another month of farming, food, community, laughter and a whole lot of rushing around.
Life at Hall Farm certainly hasn’t slowed down. There are still moments when we expect to see you there amongst it all, keeping an eye on everyone like you always did.
