Another busy month has flown by, and as always, there has been plenty happening here. The café has been full of life, with buffets for local families, parties, funerals, the Claas “Get to Know” event, Hutchinson Engineering Training School gatherings, and so much more. It’s wonderful to see so many people coming together and making memories.
We were delighted to welcome RAF Shawbury back again for lunch. They arrived in the RAF Juno helicopter as part of their navigation training exercise, which always creates a lot of excitement and interest for everyone who visits.
The shop continues to grow too, with lots of new stock arriving throughout the month. From bags and children’s toys to garden ware and plenty more, there’s been something for everyone to browse and enjoy.
Our regular customers, Sandra and Michael from Highland Fold, had an incredible day at the Nottinghamshire County Show. They returned home with some fantastic achievements: Breed Champion and Male Champion for Darius, and a brilliant second place for show newcomer Ophelia (dun). We were all thrilled for them and proud to celebrate their success.
Daniel’s Journey also had a special visitor this month. His robin paid him a visit after he had been to see us for his robin mix and mealworms. Moments like these remind us how much joy can be found in the simplest things.
Our famous Roast Cob Fridays continue to be a huge hit. In fact, they are proving so popular that customers are now buying our gravy by the mugful! We certainly can’t think of a better compliment than that.
We also received a delivery of Farming Community Network goodies, helping us spread awareness about mental health within the farming community. Mental health remains such an important topic, and we are proud to support the work they do. Alongside this, we were absolutely delighted to see The Hawkstone Farmers Choir win Britain’s Got Talent. What an incredible achievement! Not only have they helped put British farmers firmly in the spotlight, but they have also helped raise awareness of mental health challenges faced within rural communities.
Tinny has been out enjoying a few tractor runs this month, helping to raise money for charities. It’s something he loves doing, and it’s even better knowing it’s all for such worthwhile causes.
And finally, Maysie, we celebrated your 15th birthday. It was the first one without you here, and it was a day filled with both happy memories and heartache. We spoke about you, remembered your smile, and thought about all the joy you brought into our lives. Not a day goes by when you aren’t in our thoughts.
